Pushbullet is now available on Mac and Safari

Pushbullet developers have just announced that their famous application of continuity between mobile devices and PC is now available on Mac, but also Safari on iPad.

Pushbullet no introduction, this fantastic application for Android and iOS devices that can display notifications and information from one device to another in a few clicks. Pushbullet developers have even improved their service by making their application compatible with the latest Apple devices that were not yet. It is now possible to download Pushbullet on Mac, but also install the extension on Safari.

On the merits, the service is identical to the one we already know Windows, Chrome and Android but on the form, the application on Mac integrates very intelligently in Yosemite interface. Thus, the notifications sent from a mobile device on a Mac are displayed in the menu bar. Regarding the extension Pushbullet Safari, the latter adopts a behavior similar to that of Chrome.

All of these new applications can be downloaded on the official website page. Note finally that the developers have added some features on iOS versions (to share content directly from an application) and the application is finally compatible with the iPad.

Announced today, the OnePlus X will be charged next week, 269 euros. A price that puts it on the segment of mid-range, now crowded with more or less success depending on the brand. Facing him in particular, the 7 Honor launched it a few weeks ago, and, for an additional 30 euros, delivers solid arguments. Face to face between two smartphones at attractive value.

Who says new smartphone also asks what competition it comes rub. In the case of OnePlus X, things are not quite obvious, since the device is positioned as a high-end smartphone of 2014 – that’s more or less a OnePlus One slightly more compact – and displays a midrange price.

All things considered, it’s probably the Honor 7, currently charged 299 euros (through almost permanent promotions), we naturally compare this newcomer. Same type of format, even positioning focused on value: the devices are comparable in many ways to find in the table below.

Design and screen

It is probably these two points that these smartphones stand out the most. Featuring a 5.2-inch screen or larger than 0.2 inches as the OnePlus X, the Honor 7 also displays a Full HD resolution for a mechanically weaker than twenty pixels per inch . But above all, this screen is of type IPS-Neo, whose black tend to be as profound as those of AMOLED, and the colors are usually bright, but not garish, sometimes suffer the problem that poorly calibrated AMOLED. Conversely, OnePlus placing on the type of tiles popularized by Samsung, which allows it to provide functionality Ambient Display: notifications can be displayed in white on black (the black pixels corresponding to off) by not consuming little energy. As long as the AMOLED panel is of high quality, we can expect great results.

For the rest of its design, the Honor 7 is based on a chassis entirely in aluminum, without buttons below the screen. especially found there a dorsal fingerprint sensor, optional acclaimed by those who have had the chance to test it. The OnePlus X, meanwhile, combines a metal rim and a glass back (or ceramic, for the version to 369 euros), with a slightly convex screen. So hopefully good comfort in hand, accentuated by the thinness of the phone (6.9 mm against 8.5 mm in Honor). Small point to note: the presence of a “slider” button on the side of OnePlus X as the OnePlus 2, to switch from one mode of communication to another.

Software

This is definitely one of the highlights of this OnePlus X. When the Honor 7 runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop dressed Emotion UI 3.1, a superset rather heavy and very questionable aesthetics, OnePlus X adopts Android 5.1.1 handset OxygenOS, ROM OnePlus. This one, close to Stock Android, put on the light, and draws some good ideas from the old crony of OnePlus, Cyanogen. We can also hope for quick updates, OnePlus has already promised to his OnePlus 2 (in the same software version) to Marshmallow. Honor to concede that it is already a matter of Marshmallow beta next month.

performances

One thing is certain, to see the choice made by OnePlus: the Snapdragon 801 is a safe bet in terms of performance, especially since it is here combined with 3GB of RAM. We expect better stability than the Snapdragon 810, less heat, brief results not far from the chip it above. For its part, put on SoC Honor Huawei house, here a Kirin 935 associated with 3GB of RAM (DDR3 LPDDR4 not). He who is near the top end of range of the moment, even if it remains in the background, risk of serious competition to Snapdragon 801, even if we already know that it is sometimes to the death on the graphics.

Autonomy and communications

communications side, we note that the two smartphones are not compatible with the 4G +, which is little used in France, but both phones support all the bands hexagonal frequencies. A good point for both. The GPS Honor 7 is also efficient, and knowing the good performance of the Snapdragon 801, no doubt that the OnePlus X does not disappoint on this.

However, the radius of autonomy, we see that OnePlus opted for a battery 2525 mAh when Honor chose to go up to 3100 mAh. The capacity is not everything, since 7 Honor does not have as long of enormous autonomy, but there is only a little smaller and a similar definition screen, the OnePlus X loses 575 mAh compared to OnePlus One . We can only cross our fingers for a correct autonomy.

Photography

OnePlus promises a Samsung ISOCELL camera sensor of 13 megapixels, with an aperture of f / 2.2 and a phase-detection autofocus. It will rub a 21 megapixel IMX230 (f / 2.0) at the Honor 7, which also combines a flash it to flop. It provides very clear shots, obviously, and offers good results in HDR. The Samsung sensor, he is supposed to provide low-light interesting results, we will arrange to test as soon as possible.

Conclusion

The segment of high-end smartphones, or at least performing at less than 300 euros is now responsible. It contains the Honor and 7 now OnePlus X, whose availability announced for November 5 will be accompanied by a system of invitations – yet. This is certainly his main handicap, since OnePlus has already shown its difficulties in ensuring prompt deliveries, the imminence of the end of year festivities ask yet. Also worth remembering that the Snapdragon 801, overshadowed by the S810 in 2015, made a comeback in Chinese brands preferring to rely on a reliable chip aging if it is, which allows them to make substantial savings. This is the technique implemented in the Zuk Z1 which Lenovo, the radius of performance, nothing wrong. Hope to be said that OnePlus X after a test properly.

OSVR HDK 2: Razer goes to 2.6 megapixels for virtual reality

The Razer OSVR virtual reality project and Sensics has entered a new stage with the availability of Hacker Developement Kit version 2 of the virtual reality helmet. On the program, there is an evolution of the definition screens and greater refresh rate.

OSVR is the virtual reality headset in collaboration with Razer and Sensics. For now, the device is available in HDK, meaning Hacker Development Kit. The OSVR Development Kit has passed a new stage, with version 2.0 that frankly is changing compared to the old version 1.4. Razer has changed OLEDs integrated headset because now issue a total definition of 2160 x 1200 pixels of Full HD against the old version of the helmet. The refresh rate is also changing, 90 Hz, 60 Hz against version 1.4 of the HDK.

A competitor of HTC Vive and Oculus Rift

With these two new features, the OSVR helmet is one step closer competitor, the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift that share these common characteristics. The lenses have also been revised to provide “clearer and dynamic images” that would reduce the grid effect. Remember, this effect reduces the sensation of immersion as the user “see” the pixels, due to low resolution of the screen. The HDK OSVR 2 will be available in July at a price of 399 dollars, ie an additional cost of $ 100 compared to HDK 1.4 will remain sold at 299 dollars.

Virtual reality for PC

Like the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift, the HDK OSVR 2 is intended for PC since the consoles such as Neo PS4 or Xbox One S are not yet ready for the games in virtual reality. For this, we will wait for the future console from Sony and Microsoft Project Scorpio.

Photos Google now knows synchronize deleted photos from other apps gallery

Google Photos, we do not really doubt, is a very comprehensive tool management and backup photos. Application of Mountain View wins regularly with new features, including one to synchronize not only the new photos taken from a smartphone, but also the elimination of stereotypes. How it works? It’s simple.

Capture Devon Geathers

This is the last update Google Photos, available on the Play Store for a few days, and stamped 1.23 – she arrived on smartphones – Editor interest here. The latter includes not only the host of features that we already know, namely the synchronization of shots in cloud, sorting or creating automatic slide shows, and is enriched with a simple option, yet missing from the debut of the app: the ability to remove the cloud photographs that we remove the phone on a third-party application. Practice to avoid being spoiled pictures online, which occupy space for no reason, or to avoid keeping annoying clichés inadvertently.

The advantage here is that Google Photo proposes to remove deleted photos from the Gallery app pre-installed on smartphones many brands, starting with Samsung, Sony or Huawei. Note that local suppression since the app from Google was already proposed several months ago, but the problem remained exactly duplicates because third-party applications.

Read on eLaptopComputer.com 6 functions essential to test on Google Photos

How to sync deleting pictures locally and in the cloud?

The advantage here is that the synchronization of deleted photos requires no special operation. The app will ask the user in the form of a map displayed on its opening, synchronize local photos of cuts and their counterparts online. So just to confirm or deny their removal to make some space.

Pebble Time: KickStarter’s record fell

The Pebble Time has just become the best-funded project on Kickstarter platform, with over 14 million raised. It thus dethroned the Coolest Cooler Project had collected 13,285,226 dollars.

Make room in your new queen. Pebble California firm, which launched its new shows there is less than a week, just to get the prize for the most funded project in the history of KickStarter. With over 14 million raised, it relegates the Coolest Cooler Project – a cooler connected – in second place of the podium. The craziest thing is that now the gap is likely to widen considerably because there are still 24 days of funding for the Pebble Time. It could then easily exceed the $ 20 million participation.

In 7 days, therefore, more than 70 000 copies of the shows that have been pre-ordered by nearly 60 000 “backers”. The first Pebble watch was also known a huge success on the crowdfunding site, raising more than $ 10 million from nearly 70,000 future users while it only demanded a hundred times less money. Impressive.

Project Miami: BBox Bouygues Telecom introduces its Android TV

Bouygues Telecom has invited us this afternoon to discover a “secret project” on which a small team has been working for some time. His code name is Miami and it’s actually a decoder running Android TV. And the presentation to which we witnessed was the least convincing.

Miami Project is a small box TV that does not look. With 15 × 15 cm, it ideally fits under TV or hides in a suitable cabinet. Bouygues Telecom has great ambitions for it, since it is much of a TV box (and not an Internet box) new generation TV running Android.

material side first of all, it contains a processor with four cores brand Marvell, a chip Armada 1500 Pro, a slightly more powerful Snapdragon 400. It also has two GPU chips, one dedicated to 3D (Vivante GC 4000 3D) and the other dedicated to the 2D (Living GC420). For the rest, it has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory that can be extended with an SD card, a USB stick or hard drive (they come back) . Finally, in terms of connectivity, it has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi (up to the standard n), has a single USB port, an HDMI 1.4 port, an optical output for sound, a TV aerial socket and a Freeview HD tuner. And it also includes a function Chromecast.

But what’s inside that box TV is almost trivial compared to its software side. This is by far the most interesting aspect of the Miami Project, since this box runs Android TV. Bouygues Telecom claims to have worked “r apidement and secretly with a small team and in collaboration with French start-ups.” Google has also helped Bouygues Telecom for software design of this box. The Miami project aims to create the ultimate TV decoder. Understand is that it must be both capable of displaying traditional television, but at the same time VOD and catch-up TV. And the least we can say is that the project is promising.

The Miami Project home screen

This box was designed to make the experience as simple as possible user. The launch of the box, the user always happen on conventional television, live. Simply pressing the TV button on the remote display on the other hand a menu with four options: Channels, Services, Applications and Suggestions. Let’s start with the Channels menu, which displays very classic way a mosaic of TV channels. It is then possible to sort with basic filters, to put some favorite or have information about the current program.

The service menu is a little more interesting as it allows to search for content either VOD or catch-up TV. The VOD service is by default that of Bouygues Telecom Bbox VOD, but it is also possible to access all broadcasts catch easily on all French channels possible. And it will pass by partner applications developed by the TV channels. Bouygues Telecom is in discussions with them, and explained that the vast majority of French TV channels will be included automatically in the catch-it Services menu.

The VOD menu

The Suggestion menu meanwhile is perhaps what is most interesting about this box. This menu was developed by a French start-up, Spideo. This is an engine of suggestions to help the user to choose what it will look. Besides the classic manual search found interesting filters. “You’ll love” will offer a series of TV programs, emissions replay or VOD based on the user’s history. Better, the filter “Matches” will search for video content related to what is currently watching. During the presentation, we went on Public Sénat and the search engine “Matches” then proposed political programs related to other channels, documentaries and movies. In case there would be a VOD content (paid, so), simply click to buy, without having to go through a dedicated menu. The interface is flexible and especially the least restrictive. From what we could see, it was very convincing.

The application menu.

The Application menu finally gathers all Android applications that can run on Android TV. Basic, it will contain the majority of Google applications (YouTube, the navigation has been designed for remote control), but Chrome and especially the Play Store. The Google application store will only forward the content that make sense on television. Specifically, catch-up TV applications, video, media center but also to play. It will have therefore possible to plug in a USB stick or Bluetooth on the box to be able to play Android games. There will certainly limitations in applications that can be installed on this TV, but we have no details about it.

Automatically, Miami Project will find applications related to the channel that you look.

Finally, Android requires, it will be possible to transform the box into Media Center. By default, the Miami project will include a Media Center to watch your countless holiday films, but it will be quite possible to install any application (Plex, for example) to find his favorite interface. It will also be possible to recognize its NAS through DLNA to connect a USB key or hard drive to record or play video content. Last but not least, the Miami project will be launched with a dedicated application (compatible iOS and Android) to serve as a remote control, keyboard and virtual trackpad. Bluetooth keyboards and mice are naturally compatible with the case.

This box TV will be officially launched next October after a test phase carried out this summer by some customers selected by Bouygues Telecom. We do not know exactly the price at which it will be sold. Bouygues Telecom has to integrate it into a package (made?) Within thirty euros. Will it be possible to buy it separately if it is not customer Bouygues Telecom? Technically this is possible and obviously being discussed within the operator. Those responsible for its development seemed rather enthusiastic vis-à-vis this idea, but Roussat Olivier, CEO of Bouygues Telecom seemed much cooler. Bouygues Telecom has anyway not yet finished working on this very promising box.

The logo (top left) and the name of the box (Miami Project) are still provisional

Anyway I was quite impressed by the Miami project. During this presentation, the fluidity was really at the rendezvous. The different mosaics chains and carousels contents were displayed all very quickly and smoothly. The interface was also so fast it was displayed often before the video content. By scrolling through menus, frames of the interface is displayed before loading the preview images. This is a good sign.

The menus in turn seemed to me fairly understandable in any case accessible to everyman. All TV box can not boast. Finally, the main “flaw” in my opinion this box is that it is too focused on traditional TV on the Internet appearance. The remote control – which has only a handful of buttons – has a big TV button that automatically brings the television “live” to never lose the user. Maybe I say this because I’m a nerd who did not (and do not) television at home, but I was seduced by the fact that we can find a lot of Internet content on this 15000 box bypassing clumsy menus. Bouygues Telecom has made sure that this box can please everyman and everyman like traditional TV. It is a coherent choice, which may not be appropriate for a small minority. In all cases, the Miami project bodes very good on TV housings of the future: they will perform, with a fluid interface and will be especially for the first time able to combine classical smart TV, catch-up TV and VOD.

OnePlus One: Lollipop pass the final stages of testing before deployment

Despite recent tensions between OnePlus and Cyanogen, Lollipop should be available soon on the OnePlus One. This is what Cyanogen Inc has announced on his Twitter account.

“The build of Lollipop to the OnePlus One entered as test phase to check on-line! “. By this short message that Cyanogen has announced on his Twitter account that the next update for the OnePlus One will arrive very soon. Cyanogen also gives no specific release date for this ROM whose name will be CyanogenMod 12S. The tests, to detect the ultimate bugs, however, should take a few weeks time to ensure OnePlus with Google and this new ROM responds well to the necessary requirements to include the Play Services, Google based applications. The good news is that Cyanogen Inc. indicates that it is the last test before the release of the ROM and not a nightly non-final version. With any luck, OnePlus owners should finally benefit from Lollipop during the month of February.

Lollipop build for one @oneplus HAS ENTERED QA / QE internship for release! Testing & cert to begin Alongside 3rd party partners to meet GMS reqs.

– Cyanogen Inc. (@CyanogenInc) February 1, 2015

The announcement of the imminent arrival of CyanogenMod 12S is good news. It means that, as announced Cyanogen Inc., the OnePlus One will continue to receive updates from Cyanogen. Recent tensions between OnePlus and Cyanogen left indeed point to a rupture between the two companies. OnePlus will also unveil later this month a ROM developed internally, OxygenOS. The latter should be available on the OnePlus One for those who want to spend CyanogenMod and should be software based smartphones next OnePlus.

Rise in revenue Google Play, which remains behind the App Store

App Annie Research firm announced higher revenues from Google Play up to 90%. Despite this surge, the giant US app store remains far from gains from the firm at the apple.

Rising incomes of Google Play, which remains behind the App Store

The rise of Google Play was notified in the first quarter of 2013. It is mainly due to the strong growth of Android in Asia. Japan and South Korea are real fans of his games. In the United States we also find good clients, which however also are for iOS.

Faced with the 90% increase in Google, the App Store has it got 25%. Still, the Cupertino company does not lose its leadership in this niche. It indeed holds 74% market share of total earnings of application stores with a total of $ 1.48 billion pocketed. Google Play only reaches him overcome the 18% despite its great recovery, with revenue amounting to about 400 million.

Number of downloads in the first quarter of 2013

In terms of level of downloads, the gap between these two giants, however, is much smaller, as you can see in the diagram above. Google Play is neck and neck with his rival, though its revenues are not ultimately as significant.
