As rumored in recent weeks, Orbis, Samsung next smartwatch to be unveiled at the MWC in March. This watch should have a ring and a rotating ring over his dial.
And as always, the SamMobile site that reveals new information about the upcoming Samsung watch. The existence of the latter was revealed last week. in particular we learned there that she would have a similar design to that round of the Moto 360. Today SamMobile teaches us that it will also have a crown – or a button on the right side of the watch – as well as a rotating ring around the dial.
The button on the side should take the appearance of a crown, like a classic watch or, more recently, as on the Apple Watch. Except that the crown should not turn but should simply be pressed. In fact, it seems that Samsung withdraws its traditional physical button usually located under the screen of the watch, on the side. This button would have the same functions as usual, ie arouse the screen, validate an action, launch an application or activate S Voice by pressing twice.
The case of the rotary ring is more interesting. This would be a natural ring located around the watch face that could turn at will. SamMobile do not exactly know what it could be used. The site assumes that it could serve as well to zoom in on an item or to scroll through the menus. Samsung had also filed a patent a few months ago to protect the principle of rotating dial (image below). SamMobile think that Samsung will showcase a SDK for developers interested in this ring so they design applications that would benefit from this ring.
Orbis, since it is the code name for this watch should be unveiled in early March next year at the Mobile World Congress to be held in Barcelona. Recall that to finish the first rumors speak of a smartwatch not installed in Android Wear but in Tizen.
