Panasonic TH-42PZ700E: test and review

With this new generation (G10) to Full HD 1080p and improved backlight technology, Panasonic significantly improves the reproduction of black and makes even more dynamic contrasts. The reported ratio is however only 5000: 1, but blacks are extremely dense, the picture is full of details and imposes its astonishing vitality. Awesome! Also new on the side of the color management: the gain in intensity, precision and nuance is palpable. Indeed, the number of displayable colors increases (68.7 billion on paper!), Video processing is sharper and it shows immediately. The images (SD -definition standard- as HD) are gaining in subtlety and finesse, as for the display of animated sequences, there is a fluidity and an exemplary rigor. The scaling of SD image has also been improved and was much more convincing than on previous models. Be careful with digital sources of average quality … A rough MPEG-2 compression and it is a disaster! HD sources on the other hand, this is great art. Immersion in the program is assured. The TH-42PZ700 has, moreover, a new EPG (Electronic Program Guide), a tuner (with multiple options PIP, PAP, etc.), a memory card slot ( SD), including a complete connection with 3 HDMI inputs and a PC input, for front speakers of good quality (with V-Audio Surround technology and SRS TruSurround XT) and a unifying necessarily price (2399 euros). The kind of purchase we did.
